Below is the DMA Exec 2011/2012 team.


Christopher, or known online as Chrisario, is a third year Honours Bachelor of Commerce undergraduate. Through his position as VP Creative on the DMA last year, he has gained exceptional experience and explored exclusive opportunities within and outside of DMA. His passion, motivation, and hunger for success and knowledge makes him an interesting character and leader as the current co-president of the DMA. Next spring term 2012, he hopes to ride a vespa through the Mediterranean breeze in Marseille, France on exchange at Euromed Management. He hopes to one day experience life working at the top of an ad agency and one day glorify in the American dream. He enjoys sushi, a well-written GQ article, a rally of tennis, playing Chopin on the piano and living a reality-tv-show-like life.

Sandi Simoes is a born socialite with sophisticated taste and adventure. Twenty years young, she is active within her school. She has a passion for creative strategic marketing. and upon her list of achievements she has won a diverse young audience. One day she hopes to leave her mark upon the history and evolution of marketing. As the Co-President of the DMA it all starts here. Be prepared to be graced with her Sandi-ness.

Ariane is a second year commerce student who has been working with the Degroote Marketing Association for 2 years. Sports are her passion, especially soccer, cross-country, snowboarding/skiing and sailing. She also likes to do art in her spare time, whether it is drawing, painting or sculpting. Her hometown is Montreal, Quebec and she is fully bilingual in French and English. She is very punctual and outgoing and also guilty of singing songs nonstop without knowing it and telling bad jokes.

Bradley Hendriks is currently in his third year of Commerce at McMaster University. As the VP Copywriter, Bradley brings the words to life in all the marketing that the DMA pursues including slogans, phrases and body content. His introduction to the DMA last year as an associate has showed him the drive and hard work that the association is comprised of. Having recently worked at a Montana Steele Strategic Marketing, Bradley’s passion for the marketing world has been fully realized as he continues to look for new and creative ways to bring success to the DMA. In the meantime, he loves playing tennis, hanging out with his friends, and enjoying to the only music genre worth listening to, country.

Evan van Staalduinen is a second year commerce student at McMaster’s DeGroote School of Business. Last year, Evan was one of the first two students selected for the DMA’s brand new program, The Interns. This year, Evan will be taking on greater responsibilities as VP Digital. Some of his responsibilities include the marketing that revolves around social media platforms and website maintenance. In his spare time Evan will be a marching around campus as a Welcome Week representative, kicking a soccer ball , sketching, or studying for an upcoming midterm.

Chris Gordon is this year’s VP Marketing and Communication. Chris is passionate about marketing and plans to enter this field upon graduation. As a second year Commerce student, Chris is looking forward to getting involved within DeGroote. When he’s not thinking of the next new and exciting marketing campaigns for the DMA Chris enjoys playing piano or guitar. He is also a member of McMaster’s Varsity Men’s Rugby Team.

Julie Ly is in her second year as a commerce student at McMcaster University. She gained her interest of marketing through student competitions and conferences. While still in high school, she obtained the position as the Vice President of Marketing and Sales in her student run company. With an interest in marketing, she came to McMaster in hopes of involving herself in some way with that field. Today, she is currently working with the executive team planning MARS Mix, McMaster’s marketing conference. She also loves participating in recreational sports like volleyball and snowboarding. Over the past few years she has been the captain of her dragon boat team where medals were brought home after every competition.

Mike Boekestyn joins the DMA as the VP of Corporate Development. He first learned about the DMA when participating in the first-year competition, “Let’s Do Business”, that he will now be chair of. He brings passion and creativity to the DMA team. His participation in the association has allowed him to network with many wonderful people in, and oustide of the business world. Mike is also one of the few Degroote students that is married. He plans to continue to grow in knowledge in all facets of life.

Scott is in his 4th and final year of the commerce program at DeGroote and has specialized in marketing.  After serving as an associate last year Scott has become the VP of Corporate Development.  He co-chairs the “Let’s Do Business” competition with Mike, as well as “Socialights” with Anna.  Scott brings real-world experience to the DMA having worked past summers as a marketing analyst.  Scott is an avid golfer, a huge fan of hockey (TML especially) and F1, and enjoys spending time at his cottage.  He feels truly lucky to be apart of the DMA where he has had the opportunity to work with such talented and all-round amazing people.

Valerie Hawkins is in her third year of the Honours Commerce program at McMaster University.  With a passion for design, she is taking on the role of VP Design and Media this year.  She is interested in both marketing and accounting, and is a mentor in the Peer Support Program for first year DeGroote students. Outside of school, she spends her free time cooking, swimming, playing the piano or ukulele, and traveling.

Yusef Alam is in his second year at DeGroote. Chosen to be the new VP Finance for the DMA, Yusef takes care of the financial aspect of the club, dealing with operating expenses, budgets and cash flow. During his first year he competed in the Let’s Do Business challenge. As a DMA associate he participated extensively helping with Socialights and Mars apprentice.

Anna Pocrnick is a first year commerce student at McMaster University. She is thrilled to be one of the Interns on the DMA Executive Team as she enjoys being involved and meeting new people. During her studies at DeGroote, Anna would like to concentrate in marketing and hopes to participate in an international exchange due to her love for travel. When she’s not completing school work or DMA tasks, Anna can often be found singing and playing guitar, watching the Leafs game, or making nachos with her roommates.

Lisa Cimini is a fresh face to McMaster University as a first year commerce student.  Lisa has a mind eager to be molded by what the Degroote School of Business has to offer. She explored her creative and leadership skills as her high school’s yearbook editor and continues to look for new creative outlets to grow. She looks forward to the learning experiences to be held with DMA as she plans on entering the marketing field upon graduation in 2015. For now Lisa likes to maintain a balance with the workload for a first year as well as maintain relationships with family and friends. But most importantly, she is part of the 3-ingredient recipe that makes up the perfect blend for The Interns program.

Matt Rossi is a first year commerce student at McMaster University. He chose to attend McMaster’s Degroote School of Business due to its excellent reputation and wide range of opportunities offered to students. Matt is excited to spend his first year assisting the DMA’s executive team and looks forward to planning many competitions and events throughout the rest of the year. He would like to continue his involvement with the DMA, as marketing is the field he wishes to pursue in his future. Matt was a drummer in both his high school’s concert and jazz band and thoroughly enjoys playing the drums and listening to music in his spare time.  He looks forward to meeting new people and making new friends throughout his next few years at McMaster.
